About This Role

The Associate Director, Platform Operations is responsible for ensuring the stability, efficiency, and observability of the company's modern data platforms and integration services. This role leads the operations function for data lake, data warehouse, integration, and orchestration platforms, managing system uptime, cost governance, access controls, and incident response across a complex, hybrid cloud environment. You will build and lead a team focused on enabling data availability, monitoring, and cost accountability at scale-while partnering across engineering, security, and governance teams to meet enterprise standards and business SLAs.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Reliability & Operations

  • Own and oversee operations for key platforms, including Snowflake, AWS, Nexla, Superblocks and other modern data tools.
  • Establish robust monitoring, observability, and alerting practices for pipeline and platform health.
  • Ensure platform uptime, performance, and security through proactive capacity planning, incident management, and maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure platforms are optimized for performance, scalability, and reliability.

    Innovation & Efficiency
    • Lead efforts to optimize platform performance, reduce costs, and improve data accessibility
    • Work with Finance and leadership to build dashboards, forecasts, and chargeback/showback models for data services.
    • Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure cost-effective design and usage of compute and storage resources.

      Access & Compliance
      • Enforce fine-grained access control, RBAC, and audit policies across data platforms using tools like AWS Lake Formation, AWS IAM, and native platform capabilities.
      • Collaborate with Data Governance and Security teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
      • Support incident response and root cause analysis for platform and data-related issues.

        Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
        • Lead and mentor a team of platform administrators, observability engineers, and FinOps specialists.
        • Partner with Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Application Integration teams to ensure a seamless operational experience across the data lifecycle.
        • Champion continuous improvement through automation, tooling enhancements, and operational best practices.

          Required Qualifications:
          • Bachelor's Degree.
          • 10+ years of experience in data platform operations, infrastructure, or DevOps.
          • 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
          • 3+ years of experience managing cloud-based data platforms at scale, especially AWS-native and hybrid cloud environments.
          • 3+ years of experience implementing and managing security and compliance frameworks and enforcing platform access and usage policies.

            Preferred Qualifications:
            • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Admin, or FinOps Practitioner) a plus.
            • Hands-on experience with operational tooling such as CloudWatch, Datadog or New Relic, and cost optimization tools.
            • Deep familiarity with platforms such as Snowflake, Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, Nexla, and data catalog/lineage platforms.
            • Experience leading platform operations in a data mesh or data product environment.
            • Strong ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
            • Background in infrastructure-as-code, automation, and platform observability preferred.
