Georgia State University
The GSU Counseling Center seeks an experienced and compassionate
Assistant Director to join Counseling Services. This dynamic
position involves supporting a team of mental health clinicians,
overseeing auxiliary services, and championing our mission of
promoting student success and well-being. In this role, you'll
provide leadership and guidance to our dedicated staff, ensuring
the delivery of high-quality mental health services to our diverse
student population. With the guidance of the Director, the
Assistant Director will collaborate with campus stakeholders,
contribute to fostering a supportive campus community, and promote
psychological wellness and personal growth for all GSU
students.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
Management: Manages a subset of the clinical staff.
* Documentation and Communication: Oversees and maintains the
development of auxiliary services (e.g., group counseling
services)
Facilitates clear and timely communication with stakeholders,
including referring faculty, staff, families, and other relevant
parties.
* Direct Service: Provides short-term in-person and virtual
counseling for students who request services or are referred by
faculty or staff.
* Supervision: Supervises all licensed contracted counseling staff.
Provides appraisal and feedback to direct reports. Supervises the
maintenance of accurate, timely case notes in a shared electronics
database
* Emergency Coverage: Participate in rotation with the crisis team
to provide support during after-hours and daytime emergencies.
* Referral and Follow-Up: Collaborates with the clinical team to
ensure timely and appropriate referrals for follow-up care for
students.
* Outreach and Training: Provides workshops and seminars for
students and the campus community including training seminars.
* Individual Consultation: Provides expert consultation to students
seeking services, offering guidance, support, and appropriate
recommendations to address their mental health needs.
* Projects: Completes special projects and additional duties

Qualifications: Minimum Hiring Qualifications:
Master's degree and three years of related counseling experience;
or a combination of education and related experience. National
Board and state certification required.
Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
Experience managing teams of 1 or more.
* Experience providing mental health services to diverse
populations.
* Proficiency in electronic record-keeping systems and ability to
maintain meticulous documentation.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to
interact with various stakeholders effectively.
* Knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to mental health
practice and confidentiality. College/Business Unit: Student
